On the 20th of September, 2019 at the General Consulate of Japan in Saint-Petersburg the citizens of Saint-Petersburg who have made a significant contribution to the development of friendly relations between Japan and Russia were awarded by the Commendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.
Among the awarded people, there was the President of the Regional Public Organization “Saint-Petersburg Federation of the Traditional Kyudo” Mr. Lazo Sergei.
For the last 10 years, the Federation Team has held dozens of seminars, master-classes and other events from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok in order to popularize Kyudo. Saint-Petersburg's Kyudo archers regularly take part in the international seminars, certifications and successfully perform at the international competitions in Japan and Europe. In 2016, Saint-Petersburg became the first Russian city, that hosted, as a part of the first Kyudo youth exchange, the Japanese student team as participants in the First International Friendly Kyudo Tournament for the Cup of the General Consul of Japan in Saint-Petersburg. The annual Kyudo Festival “White Nights “Kyudo-Style” in Saint-Petersburg has become an event that makes a significant contribution to the history of Kyudo development in Russia and actively contributes to the strengthening and development of friendly relations between Russia and Japan.
